Network Rail reiterates commitment to RISQS
Network Rail has reiterated its commitment to RISQS, the only supplier assurance scheme run by the rail industry, for the rail industry.
Ken Blackley, Head of Commercial, Process & Governance for Route Services at Network Rail today told suppliers: “Network Rail continue to support the Rail Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme and RISQS shall continue to operate, albeit administered by a new supplier from May 2018. RISQS is a scheme by the rail industry, for the rail industry and suppliers will not be required to subscribe to any scheme other than RISQS.”
The evolution of the RISQS scheme from its current status as a concession to two contracts, managed by RSSB on behalf of the industry, will deliver enhanced member benefits from May 2018. Under the new arrangements, from May 1st 2018 Altius VA Ltd will provide IT, verification and management services, and Capita plc will deliver audit services.
Working with RSSB the new service providers will evolve and enhance RISQS by:
Introducing a new easy to use platform with more functionality to replace the current IT system
Providing the ability to integrate with buyer systems
Responding more quickly to changes in industry requirements
Improving cost effectiveness to make RISQS fairer, more transparent and provide better value for money
Working with RSG (Rail Supply Group), RDG (Rail Delivery Group) and other key industry bodies to identify ways RISQS could be a platform to promote UK rail expertise post-Brexit
Introducing the ability to access data in the scheme for industry learning
A full RSSB implementation team is working closely with the providers to ensure the benefits are realised for scheme members, and already improvements to the scheme are being introduced. Bench testing of the enhancements is progressing well and many of the improvements will be demonstrated to members at a series of countrywide events in October and November.
