The rule book app is now digital

In 2015, the rail industry purchased 614,890 paper documents from Wilson printers, the average numbers of pages per document was 27, this is equivalent to 16.6 million sheets of paper (83 tonnes of paper). As part of RSSB’s commitment to a sustainable rail industry, we developed the Rule Book app which amalgamated all information in the Rule Book and provided a single focal point to download the latest information on smart devices for trackside workers.

Making the switch to the Rule Book app ensures that your workers have the latest information direct to their smart device available every time they open the app. The app is easy to navigate and highlights key changes in guidelines as and when they happen. The app further explain rationales behind key changes to guidelines and workers are guaranteed to be kept well informed on industry updates. Thus, ensuring that your employees are armed trackside, with the most up to date information industry can provide at any point in time.

The benefits of the Rule Book app are the cost-savings gained by your organisation from the transition from paper-based copies and pdfs to the online app. The app is also convenient and reliable for workers who would no longer need to carry bulky, and often out of date paper files trackside. The app can be downloaded and used on work issued smart devices and personal devices dependent on how your organisation operates.

RSSB is happy to provide support and resource to implement the app to organisations who require assistance. The app is made available under license to organisations and licenses are priced at £4.99 per year, per licensed user for RSSB members and £9.99 per year, per licensed user for non RSSB members. Your organisation can have as many licenses as it requires.

The Rule Book app is just one of the ways RSSB is committed to operating and improving our offering to promote environmental sustainability, maximum cost efficiencies and wider knowledge transfer across industry.
