RISQS Newsletter - July 2020
TfL give RISQS the green signal
TfL extends the use of RISQS for supplier selection across London Underground, Major Projects, Elizabeth Line, London Overground, Trams and Docklands Light Railway.
Watch Stuart Reid, TfL's Head of Insights and Direction, speak briefly on this latest update on our website.
Network Rail’s new standard
As you may be aware Network Rail have introduced a new Standard NR/L2/SCO/302 – Supplier Qualification Requirements, which RISQS must comply with.
As part of our compliance to these requirements we will be making amendments to the audit protocols, and the audit duration calculator. If you have an audit scheduled after 5th September 2020, your audit will be against the new requirements.
We have uploaded the new modules, against which we will be auditing onto the RISQS website: https://www.risqs.org/scheme-documents/ - the protocols will be uploaded shortly.
Continued impact of Covid-19 on RISQS Operations
As we pass through the worst of the current Covid-19 outbreak and begin to navigate the ‘new normal’ – we want to support your organisation as much as possible.
The portal remains available 24/7 for buyers searching for suppliers and for companies to update their profiles.
Audits are still taking place as scheduled, in line with Government and UKAS guidelines we continue to deliver these online. We have started to consider what a return to the ‘old normal’ and face to face audits will require from both the audit team and your organisations.
We have prepared a short video for organisations returning from furlough or lockdown and what to prioritise within your RISQS profile. Watch this video prepared by our Scheme Manager, Gillian Scott for some further insight into how we can help you navigate the next phase of the Covid-19 outbreak: https://www.risqs.org/news/covid-19-risqs-is-thinking-forwards/.

‘Industry voices’ – Our new campaign
We have recently launched our new campaign called ‘Industry Voices’. Over the next few weeks, on our social media channels, you will see videos from the industry representatives below.
Each representative has filmed a short video covering both RISQS and RISAS schemes detailing how the schemes benefit them, their organisation as well as how they add value to industry.
- Paul McLaughlin, RSSB – (you can watch his video here: https://play.buto.tv/wmwFL)
- Ian Prosser CBE, ORR – (you can watch his video here: https://play.buto.tv/TP6CW)
- Leevan Finney, Network Rail (you can watch his video here: https://play.buto.tv/bHdrj)
- Stuart Reid, Transport for London
- Slavina Nikolova, RISAS
- Kenneth Blackley, Network Rail
Our sister scheme RISAS ensures key suppliers can become recognised as best-in-class at delivering the most challenging and high-risk products and services. Since 2006 the scheme has been focussed on rolling stock overhaul. Industry is now working together with RSSB to look at ways of enhancing RISAS to cover more of rail’s critical products and services.
