At RISQS we know that the Railway Industry Commodity Classification List, known as RICCL, contains everything the railway could ever need. But if you offer a service and have not selected the correct code, the 80-plus buyers won’t ever find you when they are looking for that service.

Please make sure you have selected all your RICCL’s. From Axle Counters (B.C.1.1.3) to Whistles (A.B.1.6), there’s always a RICCL for your service.

It’s important to remember that you always need to be compliant to be searchable alongside the RICCL, too. Therefore, please keep your RICCL selection under review throughout the year, and especially as your audit approaches. We are unable to change the audit scope once your audit is booked and within 8 weeks of the audit date.

If you make a change, our lead auditor will endeavour to assess any new codes at the audit and will confirm if they can be added, provided there is time to do so. But to be sure, please check your RICCL codes early.

Also, don’t forget to review what each category means:

  • M – Manufacture
  • N - Provide Service
  • P - Supply
  • Q - Design
  • R - Operate
  • S - Construct/Build
  • T - Commission
  • U - Dispose
  • V – Maintain
  • W – Overhaul
  • X – Install
  • Y – Modify
  • Z – Decommission

Adding a new RICCL code doesn’t always mean you’ll need a new audit, or you’ll be faced with more cost.

Please visit your portal today to ensure you have selected the correct RICCL codes for each service you provide to the rail industry.
